A rainy E.M.

Jenny has her priorities in order these days -- knitting, "Buffy," and, occasionally, Emergency Meetings.  Thanks to her for organizing last night's super-fun gathering; to Nicole, Robyn, and Jenny again for buying me drinks (I forgot my wallet, how convenient...) and to Rebecca's sister Katy for buying everyone dinner.  Everyone!  That girl is a class act.  We'll be toasting her at E.M.s for the foreseeable future.

Spot the Grinch

One of the attendees at last night's Emergency Meeting was not in the Christmas spirit. Can you guess which one? (Hint: it's not Bruce Lee.)

Holiday E.M.

Santa didn't show at last night's E.M., but we had a very nice turnout otherwise.

The E.M. that almost wasn't

Last night's E.M. was left for dead after some high-profile cancellations, so I was both surprised and delighted when Harold, who had said he wasn't going, brought it back to life. In Noe Valley, no less! Instead of goldfish and cosmos at The Attic, we had burgers and beers on the front deck at Barney's, wine and cafe creme on the back deck at Le Zinc, and martinis at the bar of Valley Tavern (not pictured: Radhi, Robyn and Sarah). Thanks for saving the E.M. Harold! We owe ya one.

August E.M.

Back to The Attic, with a vengeance.

E.M. al fresco

Well, it seems that all my bitching about the cold and foggy weather this summer actually worked. (But how?)

It has been warm and sunny for almost a week, and the 5-day forecast looks great too. To celebrate, we took the E.M. to the roof of Medjool, a restaurant/bar/youth hostel on Mission Street. There was no happy hour (which we were appropriately not happy about), but thanks to the view, the sun, the booze and the company, it was pretty festive nonetheless.

With great power comes great responsibility

is what Mark said to me when he gave me my new digital camera on Monday. I could only assume he meant the great responsibility of documenting Tuesday's Emergency Meeting, which, not surprisingly, was really fun. Ted not only brought special slime-blasted Goldfish that turn your tongue green but also invented a new game -- How cheap is your shirt (in relation to your eyeglasses)? No winner was declared, due to the confusing and mathematical nature of the question. Maybe next month.

The February Emergency Meeting was last Tuesday, with special first-time attendee Eva. Rebecca and I agree that everyone had one drink too many, which is the hallmark of a good E.M. Topics discussed included arm socks: home-knitted and not, goldfish: cheddar and not, and your shirt: cheap and not.
